State of Product reveals what AI still hasn’t solved
80% of product professionals say AI helps them ship faster, but customers aren’t seeing value any sooner. Atlassian’s State of Product 2027 explores the gains AI is delivering and the challenges that remain, from decision-making that hasn’t kept pace to gut instinct overriding customer evidence.
Apple opened preorders for iPhone Duo on October 16, with availability scheduled for October 23. The company describes it as its first foldable iPhone. Its launch material lists a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display. The announcement is a global technology event because Apple says availability begins across more than 70 countries and regions.
The technical question is not simply whether a phone can fold. A foldable device must coordinate its hinge, flexible display, outer screen, operating system, and applications through repeated changes in shape. Apple’s announcement presents those parts as one product system. It does not provide independent long-duration evidence about hinge wear, screen damage, repair frequency, or the effects of everyday use.

Apple says the inner display uses a new construction and a nano-texture layer intended to reduce reflections and the visible crease. Those are company claims, not independent test results. The distinction matters because display appearance, touch response, durability, and resistance to particles are separate questions. A launch specification cannot answer all of them.
Software adaptation is another important part of the design. Apple says iOS 27 supports interface changes between the outer and inner displays. Its material describes multitasking features, including Split View, and developer APIs for applications designed around the larger screen. That creates work for developers beyond resizing a page. Apps must preserve state when users open or close the device, keep controls reachable, and avoid losing work during transitions.
The software approach also affects how the device fits into existing mobile ecosystems. A larger open display may make some reading, document, or split-screen tasks easier to view. It does not prove that those tasks become faster or more comfortable. That depends on application support, screen proportions, input methods, accessibility, and the way people actually hold the phone. Those points require hands-on testing.
Preorder attention has spread beyond one market. Google’s seven-day regional-interest view for “iPhone Duo” included 56 countries. The strongest relative readings appeared in Hong Kong and Singapore. Additional activity appeared across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Google normalizes those regional values against the highest-scoring location. They are not counts of people, and they do not measure purchases.
Google’s country-level trending feed also listed related searches in Japan, Australia, India, Brazil, Germany, and South Africa during the past day. The query wording varied by country. A current Reddit discussion in a foldable-phone community showed visible engagement, but that audience is self-selected and cannot represent global buyers. Together, these signals show attention, not broad demand or product quality.
The release date creates a short gap between preorder activity and independent use. Until devices reach reviewers and users, claims about strength, heat, battery behavior, repairability, and long-term reliability remain untested in public evidence. The useful technical question is whether the complete hardware and software system holds up under varied applications and repeated daily folding.
Independent testing should separate appearance from endurance. Reviewers can log hinge behavior after repeated opening and closing, inspect the panel, and check touch response near the fold. Software needs a separate test. The same application can be checked before and after a fold, including unsaved edits and multitasking. Those observations would address unanswered questions without treating a launch demonstration as proof. Repair access and parts availability also remain open questions until teardown and service information are available.
This launch gives the mobile industry a concrete design to examine, but the first specifications are only the beginning of that record. A careful review will become possible as independent testing appears.
Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads
Blu Dot used Roku Ads Manager to drive incredible results for its furniture sales event. Its strategy hinged on custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.
“Roku has been a top performer,” said Blu Dot’s Claire Folkestad. “We have seen…CPMs lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”
